Acronis Cloud Backup
Backup with nothing to rack.
Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud puts an agent on each machine and sends the backup straight to secure cloud storage. No backup server to buy, no spare disk to size, no tape to collect — and one console showing every device, wherever it happens to be.
When buying a backup server is the wrong first purchase.
If you have two servers and no rack, the honest answer is that hardware-based backup costs more than the problem. This is the route that skips it.
No server room, or barely one
Backups leave the building on their own. There is no appliance to house, cool, insure or replace in four years.
Staff and laptops spread out
A machine only has to reach the internet, not your office network. Remote and travelling staff are protected on the same schedule as everyone else.
Branches without local IT
Each site backs up independently to the same console, so nobody on site has to remember to do anything.
Microsoft 365 with few or no servers
If most of your data already lives in Microsoft 365, this covers it without introducing infrastructure just to protect a cloud service.
Every machine, and the tenant too.
Servers
Full-image backup of Windows and Linux servers, physical or virtual, with bare-metal recovery available.
- Windows and Linux
- Physical or virtual
- Application-aware for SQL and Exchange
Workstations and laptops
The devices that hold work nobody realised was only in one place.
- Windows and macOS
- Works over any internet connection
- Full image or selected folders
Microsoft 365
Retention you control, independent of Microsoft's own recycle windows.
- Exchange Online mail
- OneDrive and SharePoint
- Teams content
Protection sits in the same agent.
The agent that takes the backup also carries anti-malware and ransomware detection. For a business with no security stack to speak of, that is one agent to deploy instead of two.
Ransomware detection
Suspicious encryption behaviour is flagged and stopped, and affected files can be rolled back from cache rather than waiting on a full restore.
Anti-malware scanning
On-access and scheduled scanning on the same agent, with results in the same console as the backup status.
One console, one report
Backup state and protection state in one place, which matters when nobody in the business is a full-time administrator.
A fair caveat: this is a solid baseline, not a replacement for a dedicated security stack. If security is the actual concern rather than backup, TeraSecure is the right conversation and we will say so.
Retention, and where the data actually sits.
Cloud backup satisfies the off-site part of 3–2–1 on its own, because the copy was never in your building to begin with.
Retention you set
Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly restore points kept for as long as your policy or auditor requires, without buying disk to hold them.
Storage region confirmed up front
We agree the storage region with you before deployment. If you have contractual or regulatory limits on where data may reside, that is a design decision, not something to discover later.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Backups are encrypted before they leave the machine, with the option to hold the encryption key yourself.
Set it up once, or let us watch it for you.
Cloud backup is the easiest of the three to run yourself, and plenty of customers do exactly that after we have set it up properly.
Setup and rollout
Tenant configured, agents deployed, policies set to your retention, and a restore proven before we hand you the console.
- Storage region and encryption decided with you
- Agent rollout across servers, desktops and laptops
- Backup plans and retention configured
- Microsoft 365 protection enabled
- A test restore, witnessed and documented
The console is yours. We stay available for changes and additional devices without a retainer.
Managed service
We watch the console so nobody in your business has to remember to.
- Daily backup status checked, failures raised as tickets
- Scheduled restore testing, documented
- New devices onboarded as staff join
- Retention and storage consumption reviewed
- Regular reporting in plain language
For most SME customers this sits inside GigaManaged IT — if we already run your IT, backup is part of that rather than a separate arrangement.
Where cloud-only backup runs out of road.
Restoring a large server over your internet line takes as long as your line takes. That is the real limit, and it is not a licensing problem. Once you have a virtual estate of any size, or a recovery time target measured in hours rather than a day, you want a local copy to restore from — that is Veeam, and often ExaGrid behind it. Cloud backup is then the off-site leg rather than the whole plan.
Acronis, answered plainly.
Do we need any hardware at all?
How long would a full restore take?
Where will our data be stored?
Is this enough for Microsoft 365 on its own?
What if we outgrow it?
Can we hold the encryption key ourselves?
Not sure whether cloud backup or a local platform fits better? The backup solutions overview sets Acronis against Veeam and ExaGrid, with a table of which situation calls for which.
